About

Half the people in the world lack basic needs for survival and well being: food, water, health, safety and shelter are a constant problem.

As users of the internet we are among the privileged. We have the resources to develop technology, organise affairs and propagate a world view that can raise up the underprivileged and set them on an upward path.

Many charities, churches, politicians and ministers are already doing this but it seems to me that ordinary citizens like me have a role, if not a duty, to use tools like the web to understand the problems besetting the world and  help solve them, even if only in a miniscule way (e.g. by  voting for the right policies if we are fortunate enough to live in a society where this is possible).

So what do I intend to do with this blog ?

I will be presenting  news, views and reflections on
  •  technology to  locate and/or destroy ordnance (weapons, explosives etc.)
  •  agriculture (less hunger usually means less chance of war)
  • climate change (a benign environment means more chance of peace)
  • environment friendly technology (ditto)
  •  the biosphere (ditto)
  • science (less ignorance makes for a better world)
  • representative democracy and non-violent dispute resolution
  • international developments strongly affecting peace
  • finance (stability and wealth distribution)
  • global projects relevant to world peace
  • philosophy and religion (when this relates to peace)
  • interfaith developments
I am a Christian of the western world and make no claims to be an authority on anything, although I always try to check the facts. I am using the web to express my worldview for you to take or leave or reflect or act upon.

The news, views and ideas will of course reflect what I come across, what pops up in my brain and what you send me. Feedback on previous posts will be edited for coherence and balance to the best of my ability and reviewed in future posts.
